Teaching What resources are available for funding innovations in teaching and learning?Arts at Michigan (http://www.umich.edu/~arts) supports arts-based projects and workshops in the classroom and group excursions for students and faculty. Grants of up to $500 and up to $1,000 are available. Arts of Citizenship Program’s (http://www.artsofcitizenship.umich.edu) Faculty Grants are available for public and community-based scholarly activities in the arts, humanities and design. Awards up to $15,000 are available to tenure-track, non-tenure-track instructors, and information professionals employed at the University in all disciplines and schools. CARAT (Collaboratory for Advanced Research
and Academic Technologies)/ CRLT Grants (http://www.crlt.umich.edu/grants/grants.html) are designed to improve teaching and learning at the University and offer a wide range of funding amounts from $500 to $15,000. Dean’s Discretionary Funds for the Support of Faculty and Graduate (https://umich-rackham.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/umich_rackham.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1720&p_sid=ZHtf8sTi&p_lva=1898) Students support the improvement of the climate, character, and quality of graduate education by funding academic initiatives, faculty travel (up to $500), and events benefiting the University community. Global Intercultural Experience for Undergraduates Program (http://www.gieu.umich.edu/faculty/index.html) sends small groups of undergraduates and faculty members to exciting locations in the U.S. and around the world for two to four weeks of engaging intercultural academic studies. Funding amounts vary by budget category. LSA Faculty Grants for Innovations in Teaching with Technology (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/lsait/lsaitc/resources.html) are designed to improve learning in undergraduate classes through teaching with technology. Level One funding is for projects up to $1,500 and Level Two is for projects up to $15,000. Teaching with Technology Mini-Grants for LSA projects in foreign language [http://www.umich.edu/~langres/services/production/flit.html] instruction provide resources for the development of instructional applications designed to enhance and improve teaching and learning.
