2007 Teaching With Technology Institute
WINTER COMPETITION Deadline for Submission: 4:00 p.m., February 15, 2007 Recent TTI Grant recipients and projects The Teaching with Technology Institute (May 15 through 17, May 22 and 23, 2007) helps faculty explore how technology can transform knowledge, examine effective uses of technology in teaching, further develop their technological skills, and integrate instructional technology into their teaching. This four-and-one-half-day program, over two weeks, includes seminars and hand-on technological training. Each participant is awarded a grant of $2500. These funds are designed to foster the implementation and dissemination of the faculty member's work with instructional technology. Each participant is required to:
Optional individualized training will also be available, on request, on the days without a scheduled program. In addition, post-Institute support (training and consultation) will continue to be available through CRLT, the Duderstadt Center, and LSA (as appropriate), especially through the summer of 2007. ELIGIBILITYThe competition is open, on the Ann Arbor campus of the University, to members of the following groups: all tenured and tenure-track faculty; clinical instructional faculty; and Lecturers who have continuing appointments and course development responsibilities (i.e., an assignment from the dean, chair, or designee to develop a new course or significantly revise an existing course). Faculty with various technological skill levels and experience with instructional technology - from novice to expert - are invited to apply. This intensive program best serves faculty who are clear about their project goals and are flexible in considering a variety of technology options.GUIDELINESThe two-page proposal must include information on several aspects of the teaching with technology project: a course description, the project goals, the project design, and a project evaluation plan. 1. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Provide the name of the course; level of the course; requirements met by course (i.e. writing, humanities, race/ethnicity, prerequisite for upper level courses); types of students, and number of students 2. PROJECT GOALS: Describe a) the technology you want to integrate into your teaching and b) how the use of technology will enhance student learning. 3. PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: Describe the learning activities and materials that will be developed (i.e. website template, teaching module, simulation, Power Point presentation) with content-specific examples. 4. PROJECT EVALUATION PLAN: Describe a) what you want to evaluate and b) how you will collect and analyze evaluation data. Although letters of support are not required, you are recommended to include letters of support for your proposal from deans, chairs, or other relevant colleagues. Consultations are available for faculty who need assistance in defining their goals and designing a technology project.
