Consultations


CRLT staff are available to consult with individual Graduate Student Instructors who want to discuss their teaching. For example, you may want assistance dealing with diversity issues in your teaching, incorporating an innovative teaching technique, or discussing results of student evaluations. CRLT consultations are confidential and can include:

Discussion of student evaluations, including:

  • Interpreting ratings and comments
  • Using student feedback to enhance your teaching
  • Making arrangements to collect early student feedback

Discussion of immediate teaching concerns, such as:

  • Plans for class tomorrow
  • How class went yesterday
  • Ways to enhance class discussion
  • Class dynamics
  • Multiculturalism in the classroom
  • Tests and grading

Discussion of other teaching and learning topics, such as:

  • Developing plans for group work
  • Developing a new course
  • Arranging a videotaping of your class for consultation
  • Obtaining written materials on teaching
