Colloquium on the Science of Learning
April 28: Panel of faculty members from American Culture, CAAS, and Women's Studies
May 7: Panel of faculty members from Chemistry, EEB, Math, MCDB, and Statistics
During the past academic year, with the support of a grant from the Teagle Foundation, CRLT convened a Colloquium on the Science of Learning, a series of seminars focused on research on learning that has relevance for undergraduate teaching. The seminars also focused on multicultural issues that inflect teaching and learning differently in different disciplines. Fifteen Fellows in the Science of Learning participated: ten faculty members and five graduate students, with each having a strong interest in multicultural teaching and learning.
At two meetings at the end of the term, the Fellows will present brief comments on what they have learned from this Colloquium.
- The April 28 meeting includes presentations from faculty involved in teaching multicultural content.
- The May 7 meeting includes presentations from faculty in STEM disciplines who are committed to retaining students from social backgrounds and identities underrepresented in their fields.
Any interested faculty member or graduate student involved in teaching is welcome to attend either or both of the sessions listed below.
