Faculty Consultations
CRLT staff are available to consult with individual faculty
members who want to discuss their teaching. For example, instructors may want
assistance incorporating an innovative teaching method, getting students actively
engaged with course material, or creating an inclusive learning environment.
CRLT consultations are confidential and can include:
Discussion of innovative approaches to teaching, including:
- Writing grant proposals for teaching and learning initiatives
- Pursuing research on teaching and student learning
- Setting up experiential and community-based projects
- Designing group work and cooperative learning
- Incorporating instructional technology
Discussion of student evaluations, including:
- Interpreting ratings and comments
- Using student feedback to enhance your teaching
- Making arrangements to collect midterm student feedback
Discussion of immediate teaching concerns, such as:
- Creating inclusive classrooms
- Enhancing class discussion
- Designing tests and grading effectively
- Handling difficult class dynamics
Discussion of other teaching and learning topics, such as:
- Developing a new course
- Arranging a videotaping of your class for consultation
- Obtaining written materials on teaching
