Using theatre to enhance teaching and learning

and improve institutional climate



During the 2014-2015 academic year, the CRLT Theatre Program has scheduled over 45 performances at the University of Michigan and other campuses across the country, including Brown University, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

We will also be rolling out several new or revised sketches:

  • NEW: Critical Differences explores the way identity affects students' engagement with a course's content and an instructor's methods.
  • REVISED: The Fence maintains its focus on equitable practices for tenure and promotion, while reflecting changes that have occurred within the academy over the past decade (e.g. dimished grant funding, rise in interdisciplinary scholarship, etc.)
  • IN PREVIEWS: A sketch that will examine the challenges instructors face in responding responsibly to student mental health concerns.

We are excited to share these new works and to engage with our colleagues in higher education in the important conversations of how we can collectively cultivate an environment in which students and faculty from all backgrounds can succeed.
