Goals
- To recognize faculty who have developed innovative approaches to teaching that incorporate creative pedagogies, e.g., new uses of instructional technology, new ways to engage students in the learning process, new approaches to student collaboration, or new methods for replicating the advantages of a small course in a large lecture.
- To encourage the dissemination of best practices by sharing promising innovations with faculty more broadly.
Award
The award will provide $5,000 to five faculty members for their innovative work in teaching.
The awards will be announced each May at the annual, campus-wide technology conference, Enriching Scholarship.
The awardees will be asked to share their innovations with the broader U-M community at Enriching Scholarship and at other campus-wide events, and they will be eligible for funding to publish and present at conferences elsewhere.
Eligibility
The award is open, on the Ann Arbor campus of the University, to all tenured and tenure-track faculty; clinical instructional faculty; lecturers who have continuing appointments and course development responsibilities (i.e., an assignment from the dean, chair, or designee to develop a new course or significantly revise an existing course).
Nominations
Nominations from the full range of instructional settings at U-M are encouraged.
All Ann Arbor campus faculty, students, chairs, directors, deans, and staff members are eligible to nominate individuals for this prize. Faculty self-nominations are also accepted.
All nominations should use the attached one-page nomination form.
